MANUAL THERAPY FOUNDATION OF INDIA ®
Organises
2 - Days Hands on Manual Therapy Workshop titled
“MANUAL THERAPY FOR NERVOUS SYSTEM AND CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY”
Mumbai (April 21st – April 22nd, 2012)

Workshop Philosophy

The nervous system gets frequently compromised due to tightness, fibrosis edema, ischaemia and hypoxia. The neural mobilization is used for treatment of adverse neurodynamics, the primary theoretical objective is to attempt to restore the dynamic balance between the relative movement of neural tissues and surrounding mechanical interfaces, thereby allowing reduced intrinsic pressures on the neural tissue and thus promoting optimum physiologic function. The hypothesized benefits from such techniques include facilitation of nerve gliding, reduction of nerve adherence, dispersion of noxious fluids, increased neural vascularity and improvement of axoplasmic flow. The concepts of mobilization of the nerves developed by stalwarts like Cyriax, Maitland, Elvey, Butler, Shacklock, Breig, Upton and McComas will be discussed.MTFI believes that the merger of the work of these manual therapists into one concept provides a more realistic, multifactorial approach to the examination and treatment of various nerves. In addition the Manual therapy Concepts provided by MTFI involves thorough Clinical Reasoning and Evidence Based Practice in order to cope with the recent trends.

In Craniosacral therapy the therapist gently work with the spine, the skull and its cranial sutures, diaphragms and fascia. In this way, the restrictions of nerve passages are said to be eased, the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spinal cord is said to be optimized, and misaligned bones are said to be restored to their proper position. Craniosacral therapy is used  to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ Syndrome, and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.
