                                                                             Foundation of India(FMTFI)
"Fellow" status in the MTFI is both a membership classification and a professional credential. As a professional credential, a "Fellow" in MTFI is an international recognition of competence and expertise in the practice of manual physiotherapy.To achieve the Fellow credential, a physical therapist/physiotherapist must complete a credentialed fellowship program in manipulative physiotherapy. The "Fellow" is a physiotherapist who has demonstrated advanced clinical, analytical, and hands-on skills in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Fellows serve their patients and the public by demonstrating excellence in clinical practice, education, and research..To maintain the professional credential of Fellow, a physiotherapist must be a MTFI lifemember in good standing .

The Fellowship includes:

  1. Goal setting
  2. One on one training
  3. Patient Handling
  4. Video Learning
  5. Exam / Certification

The goals of the clinical fellowship are to:

Promote expert practice in Manual Physical Therapy including:

  1. Clinical reasoning and differential diagnostic abilities
  2. Utilization of scientific evidence underlying to address evaluation and management of clinical problems
  3. Advanced knowledge of biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and tissue healing and response
  4. Expertise in manual and manipulative techniques for the spine and extremities.
  5. Serve the community by providing participants with the opportunity to teach and practice within the community and by providing relevant and quality continuing education to community therapists.
  6. Promote the use of Manual Therapy in the globe as a safe, effective and efficient intervention.
  7. Provide each fellow with the skills to critically appraise the research literature.
Evaluation Methods for Clinical Fellowship
The Program will use a va  riety of methods to assess the clinical competence of the fellow.  The fellow must demonstrate safe and effective patient/client management in a clinical setting with an examiner present. At a minimum, the following methods of assessment will be included in the program:
  1. One written examination.
  2. Four technique examinations on models and/or patients with a minimum of one technique demonstrated during each exam.
  3. One patient exam with a spinal/axial focus.
  4. One patient exam with a peripheral/appendicular focus.

Topics Covered:

  1. Spinal mobilization/manipulation
  2. Peripheral joint mobilization/manipulation
  3. Trigger point & Myofascial therapy
  4. Proprioceptive training
  5. Neurofascial mobilization (Craniosacral & Peripheral neuromobilization techniques).
  6. Muscle energy techniques
  7. Issues on Diagnosis and differential diagnosis

Fellowship Objectives & Outline

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1.Discuss the diagnosis and treatment of Musculoskeletal Dysfunction.

2.Demonstrate a deep understanding and appropriate handling of all Manual Therapy approaches discussed.

3.Create appropriate Manual Therapy Treatment Protocols that may include:
Vertebral Column mobilisation and manipulation, Peripheral Joint mobilization and manipulation, Trigger Point Therapy, Deep and Superficial MyoFascial Therapy, Muscle Energy Technique, Myofascial Release Techniques, NeuroFascial Mobilization, Lumbar Mobilization-Manipulation, Lumbar Stabilization, Muscle Strengthening Systems, and Proprioceptive Training.


Eligibility:
1.Must have completed 64 contact hours of MTFI course.
2.Must be a life member of MTFI.
Dates: April 1st- April 21st,2010
Course Fees: 
Rs.15,000/- till Feb 28th,2010
Rs. 1750/- till March 15th,2010
Rs.20,000/- spot ( If available) 
( Includes Fellowship fees and staying in the MTFI clinical setup) for Indian nationals and participants from SAARC Countries.
1,000 USD for Foreign nationals.
