Workshop Philosophy

This highly skilled two days (16 Hrs) manual therapy workshop is intended to develop pre-existing manual therapy skills to a level and competency where manipulation can be introduced and applied safely to the muscular and fascial structure to facilitate correction of the muscular dysfunctions.

Functional anatomy and kinesiology of the ventral and dorsal slings are intensively studied and the role of fascia structures are discussed in a new perspective.

This MTFI workshop provides a critical insight into the complex anatomy and function of the musculo- fascia-skeletal system. The course facilitates analysing the mechanism behind possible dysfunctions, providing new clinical skills to enhance rehabilitation strategies and to treat the dysfunctions.

Course Benefits:

This course facilitates the identification of muscular imbalances, the fascial concepts. In present day many patients come with trigger points along with muscular and fascial tightness. The MFR techniques are very useful for correcting the muscular and fascial dysfunctions. 

WORKSHOP CONTENTS

Introduction to Manual Therapy: 1 Hr 
Eras of development in Physiotherapy, Introduction to Manual Therapy (Different Schools of Thought), Manual Therapy: Definitions, Indications and Contraindications, Biomechanical Principles in Manual Therapy (Fryette's Laws, Concave-Convex rule, Close pack and Loose pack Positions, Joint status gradings), Barrier concepts, Assessment of dominant eye.

Myofascial Release Techniques: 1Hrs 
Definition of MFR, Classification (Direct & Indirect, Intrinsic & Extrinsic), Description of fascia [Basic techniques (Feedback, Stretch, Hold, Release, End-feel)], concept of postural and phasic muscles (Vladimir Janda's concept), MFR treatment concepts [POE(T)], Steps to MFR.

MFR Techniques for Cervical, Trunk and pelvic complex: 7 Hrs

MFR Technique for Sternocleidomastoid, Suboccipital, Scalenus Muscles, Trapezius, Levator Scapula, Prone back work Upper, Prone back work Lower, Multifidus, Latissimus Dorsi, Thoracolumbar fascia, MFR for Rib Dysfunctions, Pectoralis Major, Pectoralis Minor, Respiratory Diaphragm Release, Intraoral MFR, Temporalis MFR, Gluteus Maximus, Sacrotuberous Ligament, Piriformis, Iliopsoas, Rectus Abdominis, Lumbosacral Traction, Iliac Crest MFR, Dural Release.

MFR techniques for Upper and Lower Extremity: 8Hrs
MFR technique for Deltoid, Biceps, Triceps, Pronator Teres, MFR for Tennis Elbow, Golfers Elbow, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Ankle Retinaculum Release, Anterior Compartment/Interosseous Membrane Release Leg, Gastrosoleus, Plantar fascia Release, Iliotibial Band Release, Medial Hamstrings, Biceps Femoris, Adductors, Quadriceps, myofascial stratum release using knuckle, Focus strumrelease on plantar fascia, Standing Release: Forefoot, calcaneus, adductors, Pediatric Supplement for Lower Extremities, Heel cord Release.

Fees : 250 PEN (Peruvian Nuevo Sol) till April 30th,2013;  275 PEN till May 15th, 2013; 300 PEN till May 31st, 2013; 350 PEN spot ( If seats are available).

No of Seats: 40 (Max.). Seats will be allotted on first come first serve basis only. 

Eligibility : Physiotherapists(DPT/BPT)/ Physiotherapy Students from reputed Institutions. There is no prerequisite in terms of Manual Therapy Experience.   

Venue: The venue of the programme will be informed to the registered participants 05 days prior to the programme.

Discounts:
1. The life members get discount of 5% on the fees ( photocopy of the membership certificate must be attached with application)
2. If you refer a friend to this course and both of you register, your friend and you get discount of Rs.100 on fees.
3. For group of 5 registrations there is 5% reduction in fees for each. The registrations must be sent together.
4. For group of 10 registrations there will be 10% reduction in fees for each registrant. The registrations must be sent together.
